Client Requirement
The client had terabytes of history and dynamic data, which is used for their ground transportation reservation system. The business process required a single system comprising of individual tiers of intelligent business objects be implemented to utilize the underlying data to process an online reservation transaction. As the system would be processing real-time requests, the processing was expected to be as close to real-time as possible. Also concurrent multiple requests were expected to be handled from multiple remote access points without compromising processing efficiency.
Solution Implemented
Z & A developed the Ground Transportation Reservation System, which allows travel agents to take online requests to be executed by numerous carriers around the world. This is a very high volume transaction processing system. The system architecture has multiple business tiers (Reservation System, Vendor System & Accounting System) with intelligent agent objects acting as the control gateway to the rest of the system.
Intelligent agent coordinates and utilizes the available system resources to provide data lookup functions and to process selected requests. The Agent is built upon a distributed object technology with a database of terabytes of data and is responsible for accepting and execution of requests for work.
Benefits
- Allows for concurrent access to the business data
- Caching of data and business objects ensured high degree of efficiency
- Distributed system architecture increased fault tolerance
- Provided remote access from multiple remote clients
- Periodic reports supported decision management for business strategy development.
Environment
